English Adaptation

01 — Intro

When I adapt Polish-language content into English (for games and movies), I’m not just translating words — I’m rewriting them to feel native, authentic, and alive in a different language. It’s a complex process of transformation that touches every part of the narrative experience, from dialogues to loading screen texts.

I also edit and improve existing adaptations that need a second pass.

02 — Mission objective

My goal is to make the English feel as if it was written first. Not just correct — but natural, emotionally convincing, and stylistically in line with the game’s or movie's world. I aim for clarity, flow, and full immersion for English-speaking players, without compromising the voice or intent of the original.

03 — Creative process

I read between the lines

It starts with deep comprehension. I read the Polish source carefully, including cultural nuances, implied tone, and embedded lore. I often research historical and/or cultural references, character backstories, and dialects — because you can't adapt what you don’t fully understand.

I rewrite, not just translate

The heart of my work is creative rewriting: stylizing, rephrasing, editing, and elevating. Sometimes it’s about finding the perfect idiom; other times, it’s knowing when to stay close to the original. My background in game localization, movie dubbing, and writing helps me strike that balance.

Consistency is King

I can also maintain glossaries, pronunciation guides, and character style sheets. I pay close attention to voice consistency across a cast of characters — especially in sprawling RPGs or games with branching narratives. I can also test the text in context and flag bugs or mismatches that impact readability or immersion.

Final polish

My work includes thorough self-review, and collaboration with natives to make sure the English reads as one voice — not like a patchwork of fragments. I can check lines that break in-game, correct inconsistencies, and tighten what needs tightening.

04 — Results

A Polished (wink, wink), compelling, and fully localized English experience. Players won’t be pulled out of the world by awkward phrasing, mistranslations, or clunky dialogue.

And for Polish developers, that means fewer VO redos, smoother QA, and better reception on international markets.
